These early WW1 French infantry are mainly Hat Set 8148, which I have greatly enjoyed painting. The scuplts show the spirit of 1914 very well and I could not resist painting them with red trousers and without kepi covers for maximum effect (as it was all too easy to say in 1913,"Red trousers are France!"). I filled in the rear vent on the greatcoats with filler prior to painting. They are a few of Hat Set 7002 (ex Airfix) figures present, to which I added back packs (moulded from the Hat figures using Greenstuff) and Kepis. The puttees were trimmed and trousers modified with filler. Finally, a couple of hapless Germans have strayed from set 7001 and for them, the war is over. The French Army and WW1 are not really my subjects, so please excuse the inevitable inaccuracies.
Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
