Gondor Light Infantry - Procarz / Light infantry of Gondor - slinger
Recently, out of curiosity, I bought the El Cid: Spanish light Infantry box by Hat, 28 mm scale. I wanted to check the quality of the figurines. The price of the set was decent because 32 figures cost only PLN 35. The figures are made of hard plastic. After unpacking, I did not come across any scraps or annoying scraps. The sculpture of the figurines is not very sharp and extra detailed, but definitely enough to make decent-looking walkers. Light infantry is armed with spears, crossbows, bows and slingshots. I decided to use these models to create a Gondorian light infantry or militia unit. The size of Hat's infantry roughly corresponds to the size of the plastic figurines produced by GW. Hat models are slightly smaller. Is it worth buying a box with Hat figures? Personally, I definitely think so.
As part of the project, I plan to build a light infantry detachment of eight soldiers. Thanks to them, Gondor will get really cool looking archers and crossbowmen. For the workshop, I decided to take the ugliest figurine from the entire box, i.e. the slinger. I present the effects of painting in the photo below.
Archers
The photos show two figurines of Gondor's light infantry armed with bows. The figures come from the same box as the previously painted slinger. The models of light infantry can be used to make an interestingly looking unit that can be easily adapted to virtually any medieval army or to fantasy world troops referring to the Middle Ages by convention. In my collection, these light gentlemen support the Minas Tirith armored warriors. Skirmishers will be useful on every battlefield, especially when the opponents are filthy orcs from Mordor.
Crossbowman
Crossbowman of light formations of Gondor armed with a crossbow. The tunic soldier wore quilted leather armor. A short sword hangs from his belt. The crossbow is a very good weapon against the advancing Mordor troll or the charging lip-based riders. The crossbow can pierce wooden shields from a considerable distance and the heaviest armor that an orc mob takes to war.
