Here are some pictures of the Persian light cavalry. The Persian cavalry consisted of different contingents of horsemen from all provinces (Satrapies) of the empire. These light cavalry troops consist of Bactrian and Parthyaian archers and Paphlagonian and Arachosian javelin men who served under Darius III. Although they fought valiantly, they were no match for the Macedonian heavy cavalry with there protective armor and long lances.
