A look back at Imperial Roman Command 8075
More pictures from the archival records. For reasons which are lost to the sands of time, set #8075 Imperial Roman Command is the only HaT set to date which was made by 3 sculptors from 3 different countries (Germany, England and Canada).
The first figure was code named the Fighting Centurion.
Every journey starts off with a single step. In this case this sketch was the first piece of work done on this set. The work officially starts when pen meets paper.

For the next figure a second centurion was chosen, however a musician was made instead. A tubicen was chosen because there were already cornicens on the market.

Look at the bottom of his left foot, you can see the base body inside.
Originally with grass under this foot.

This figure was designed with an "open" top hand. In theory the standard would be glued into the groove and then the back of a "hand" painted over it. In practice this was seldom done.
One of our favorite designs, the double duty accessory, did not make it into production.
Two optios. Sometimes repeated parts like heads and torsos could be casted.

Tesserarius, note the extra arm protection on his right arm and shoulder and the greaves on both his legs.
Aquila, the eagle of the Legion, carried by an Aquilifer. The Aquilifer was a senior signifer.
