A look back at #8187 1806 Saxon Infantry
The double boxed set at the time was a progression from the simple 8 pose/48 figure infantry set. This was an attempt to expand a simple set to create a more useful all-in-one set. This 15 year old set was a 96 figure set that had 1/3 grenadiers and 2/3 musketeers. The musketeers and grenadiers each had an officer, NCO and musician pose (drummer and piper). and included officers, NCO's and musicians. The following is some of the more unusual features of the set:
This set had some very expressive faces; only the grenadiers had mustaches.
Only 30% of privates had a bread bag.
The NCO's had bicornes with scalloped edging and a water bottle that held water for 8 men. The musketeer NCO had a pistol on a sling and a choice of a halberd or pike.
There was an earlier version of the grenadier officer with the musket in front of him which could not be molded and didn't make it into production.
There is a single kneeling sharpshooter pose in this set. He has a green plume on his bicorne (painted by Mr. Kucharski).
The officers had sashes around their waist, the grenadier officer had a carbine (painted by Tom).

The grenadiers had bearskins as well as bicornes.
A converted standard bearer. This double set was unusual in that had no standard bearers, the latest ones have two.
