Elements of the 1st Infantry Brigade [ Major General Carl Von Steinmetz] begin to link up with the Nassau defenders of Papalotte.
The fighting around the church at Plancenoit, between the Neumark Landwehr [ Maj. Von Schmalansee] and the Young Guard intensifies with no quarter given.
Wellington, his army shattered, maintains a rearguard near Merbe Braine with the intention of regrouping after nightfall.
His Majesty has to think the unthinkable. Blucher has changed everything. The day's gains are slipping away, and night is approaching. The pursuit of Wellington is now impossible. Blucher must be stopped or the Empire is lost !
