Hi guys.
After the Cromwell came the Comet, largely based on the same design, but with some differences. In particular, the turret was new, and carried a cut-down 17-pounder. The chassis looked externally very similar to the Cromwell. This got me thinking, and before I realised what I was doing I had scratch-built a turret to convert one of my Cromwells into a Comet, just to see if it could be done. Many of the bits came from the Armourfast spares box - the gun was left over from a Firefly, the mg and cupola from a Cromwell, the mantlet and hatches from a PzIII. It's not a complete job - if I wanted to do it properly I would fill in the corrugations in the hull, and I should add return rollers to the running gear, but at least this way I can turn it back into a Cromwell when I want to. It was a fun job to do, and even if it's a bit lumpy it'll do for wargaming.
Best regards,
