(Webmaster's notes: The test figures are from the first undersized mold).
Part 2
After a period of non-activity I managed to finish the testshots and thus this painting tutorial concerning the new Peninsular British. So here we go!
Step 8
The picture below shows the figures in near finished state.
- I have painted the muskets (the stocks using GW Dark Flesh and the iron work with Valejo Natural Steel)
- all guilded parts were done by first using Valejo Brass and then a final highlight with Valejo Old Gold
- the skin was highlithed a last time using a mix of 2 parts Valejo Medium Flesh and 1 part Pale Sand.
Step 9
Step 10
Finished! Let's get the troops lined up for inspection then:
Command poses.
Centre companies
Light company
Grenadier company
So what now? Well I will put these figures on a showcase stand and put them...well in my showcase obviously! I have several figures left over from the testsprue and will make wargames figures out of them. I will post pictures of those when they are finished on my blog and perhaps on these pages as well if Mrs Jones will let me ;-)
Cheers Sander!
Many thanks to Mr. van Straeten.
Now in theory the figures can now be considered finished, but seeing as that I intended to show some of them in campaign dress I will paint on some patches of cloth used to mend tears in the uniforms of the troops. I did this by painting on small black squares on knees and elbows of some of the troops. To give a more mixed feel I painted a second square over the corner of some of the patches to give the impression of a certain spot on the uniform that had to be repaired twice. Since I was using black paint anyway, I also picked out all the buttons on all uniforms so I could finish them with Valejo Silver next.
The last stage is filling in the black patches. I used several colours to create a more motley appearance.
