1/72 Rorke's Drift

As an undergraduate art student at university currently in my last year I am basing my work upon miniatures and I have used 1:72 scale figures in my work. I have created different scenes of battles from history and placed them within suitcase as if they have inhabited the suitcase and made it their own. I then drill holes in the side and added lights in the top so you can see the scene inside the suitcase. Enjoy.

This is my sculpture art work based upon Rorke’s Drift; I painted all the figures and made the buildings in the scene. Upon the roof of the Rorke’s Drift hospital you can see British Infantry scaling the buildings. The image I wanted to recreate was of red-coated British troops facing superior numbers of brave but poorly equipped natives.
I then used a background to best suit the scene I have created and adhered it to the sides of the suitcase. I then drilled holes in the side as if they were bullet holes. Upon the suit case lid I attached lights to illuminate the inside so that when you look through the holes in the suitcase you can see the miniature scene.
