Here are some photos of the King's Royal Regiment of New York skirmishing with Continental regulars and Whig militia at this past summer's 230th Anniversary of the Battle of Newtown, NY. The uniforms are the "Tory Green" worn by Provincials until 1780. Most wear cap hats, as ordered by Gen. Burgoyne for the 1777 campaign. The KRRNY didn't actually fight at Newtown. These photos do show, however, what they would have looked like at Oriskany in 1777 when they ambushed Gen. Herkimer and the Tryon County Militia. (There is some argument for red facings rather than blue, as per the Troiani print.)
