Here are some pics of my African Infantry. This army unit consists of heavy infantry, Carthaginian citizen soldiers who were well trained and the core of Carthage's armies. They were used to fighting in a phalanx formation. This fighting method was copied from the Greek hoplite armies on Sicily and the Successors' phalanx armies of the eastern Mediterranean Empires. The light infantry consists of Libyan tribesmen and Phoenician fighters who had no body armor accept for their helmets and large shields and Numidian tribesmen who fought as skirmishers. The Numidians were long standing allies of Carthage who provided the Carthaginians with much needed light cavalry and infantry units. When a part of the Numidian forces allied themselves with the Romans under Scipio, during the Second Punic war, this resulted in Carthage's defeat in the Battle of Zama.
