The Cauldron
A WW2 Participation wargame from the Mailed Fist
During the Second World War, the term “The Cauldron” was used to describe intense periods of fighting where armies came together in battle.
Our version is aimed at gamers new to wargaming and in particular to Second World War gaming. To keep things simple, we're only using tanks with a minimum of scenery, the aim being to introduce the gamer to the concept of “fire & manoeuvre” - you need to be aware of the advantages that your tank has as well as potential enemies to your flank and rear, as well as those in front of you!
We're also trying to show that wargaming doesn't have to be expensive… a green cloth for the terrain with a few hills ('though these could just as easily be books underneath) and making full use of the Armourfast series of quick-build tanks from HäT Industrie (two kits in a box).

Game Two - Another happy, smiling face. Dad (in background) thought our very simple game was really great to get youngsters involved… I guess the faces of the youngsters would seem to confirm that!
Game Three - including a visit from Andrew Parkin (in contemplative mood as he surveys the damage wrought by his Cromwells!) who organises the Recon show at Pudsey and another happy smiling face!
Final game of the day & another convert!! With one of the Steve's in the background - tired out after a long day's gaming.
Many thanks to Mr. Foster
