1/32 Ottoman Army (Part 2)
Date: July 20, 2010.
I used the Hät Zouaves to create the Ottoman Nizam-i Cedit : The "New Army". It was an attempt to modernise the Ottoman army in the Napoleonic era, but was countered by the conservatives. The Nizam-i Cedit were an import factor in the final defeat of the French in Egypt.
Azap were soldiers of the 16th-17th century and were also present at the siege of Vienna in 1683.
Janissaries once were the elite corps but by the time of the Napoleonic wars, they were obsolete.
