10 Step Painting Guide

I choose this piece with details that show well the effects on flash, leather, cloath and armours.
1 - As first step, I fix the pieces to pins and undercover it flat black.
2 - Then a silver drybrush on the metallic parts only.
3 - Now the first white drybrush to create shadows and lights. At this point the details of the models become much more visible compared to just undercovered.
4 - With the second white drybrush I add highlights and definition to some details.
5 - Now starts the color painting, in this case I started from the brown parts, using very liquid paint to give color leaving dark and light parts visible underneath.
6 - For the flesh I used more thick paint (still quite liquid anyway) as pink is not a very covering colour, the shadows and lights are still a both visible underneath but not as much as for the leather.
7/8 - Same way for the other parts, the thickness of paint depends by what effect I want to create. At this point the toysoldier has already it's colors with a bit of shadows and higlights and could be ready for adding the fine details. But a few more steps that request very little time will make gain much more effect.
9 - Is possible to give a wash of a darker shade of color on all the different parts first to add extra shades, or directly give few strokes of lighter whitebrush (instead than many passages with different shades) to create extra highlights as in this case.
10 - At this point, depending by the skills, time and patience, it's time to add the fine details, as always trying to be as more precise possible to save quality and time in corrections.
