During this period, Swedish cavalry was constantly being reorganized, a process that still leaves puzzles, especially since uniforms were also frequently changed or modified (one contributing factor was that regiments, except hussars, had an undress uniform in reverse colours, which might cause them to be mistaken for another regiment altogether).
These light dragoons (in yellow undress uniform) were converted to the Schonisches Hussar Regiment sometime before 1812. The central object on the sabretasche is a conventionalized griffen´s head, a provincial emblem.
Sodra Skaska Carabiniers Regement - 1805
Its dress uniform was a short blue jacket with yellow facing. Breeches were yellow leather. They wore high bicorne chapeau and high boots. The central provincial emblem is a griffen´s head.
Smalandisches Light Dragoon Regiment - Private 1814
The blue overalls cover yellow breeches (here with blue overalls) and the hussar style boots. The regiment wears the Russian-type shako with its long cords. The yellow Swedish cockade was coming into use, but the small one shown on this private may be only the company distinction (other pictures show it was red). The cap plate is a provincial coat-of-arm, the yellow cords over the portmanteau are the ends of his sash - very long. Swedish cavalry favored buff instead of white belts.
Schonisches Carabinier Regiment (yellow undress Uniform) - Private 1814
Until 1805 this was the Regiment of Dragoons of South Scania, it retained their high bicorne chapeau, leather breeches and high boots into early 1814. Thereafter it has this uniform with either Russian or French-type shako - cap cords on the latter shown as yellow. The yellow Swedish cockade is worn on the shako, along with the small company cockade. The regular uniform had a dark blue coat with yellow collar, lapels, cuffs and shoulder straps.
