British Mounted Infantry

Attached are a sampling of the photos I've taken of the conversions I've made using a single test spue of the soon to be released HaT 8209 British Mounted Infantry.
The dismounted figures are painted as an NCO & two privates of the 24th. The mounted companies of the 24th Reg't. serving in South Africa were not known for being good horsemen, the best that could be said of their riding ability was that the majority could manage to stay in the saddle. For this model, only one of their horses comes from the HaT kit, the other two are taken from the Airfix U.S. Cavalry kit and ESCI's WW2 Russians.
Their helmet spikes are made using wire, covered with gold paint. The chains on their helmets are nothing more than a very heavy application of the same gold paint. Their black corduroy uniforms are described in most sources as fading with wear to an ill-defined dark brownish color. I tried a different technique on each figure in order to achieve a motley appearance, but I am not sure if my camera picked up the nuances in color or my attempts to create the illusion of a corduroy texture.
Overall, this is a great kit. Another case where a single test-shot only leaves me wanting more. Many thanks,
