Natal Mounted Police

Attached are a sampling of the photos I've taken of the conversions I've made using a single test spue of the soon to be released HaT 8209 British Mounted Infantry.
The mounted figures have been converted to represent an NCO and two troopers of the Natal Mounted Police. This para-military police force was considered to be one of the best units in Chelmsford's ill-fated army. Veterans of the Langalibalele Rebellion and the 9th Kaffir War, as well as year-round service as local law enforcement, these men were well trained, self-reliant and disciplined.
Their helmet spikes are made using wire, covered with gold paint. The chains on their helmets are nothing more than a very heavy application of the same gold paint. Their black corduroy uniforms are described in most sources as fading with wear to an ill-defined dark brownish color. I tried a different technique on each figure in order to achieve a motley appearance, but I am not sure if my camera picked up the nuances in color or my attempts to create the illusion of a corduroy texture.
Overall, this is a great kit. Another case where a single test-shot only leaves me wanting more. Many thanks,
