Hi,
Last week we played an ancient battle of Carthaginians vs the Roman Republican army, proving 1/32 big battles are surely possible. Carthaginians, Gaul cavalry and Romans are Hät . Gaul infantry is Italery and Storme. The elephants and Carthaginians were already on pics sent by Steven Swiers.
Hannibal did give the Romans a heavy defeat, the major blow given by the elephants.
One of the elephants went mad and started to stampeding in a different direction every turn, crushing a fleeing Hastati unit on the way, and leaving the battlefield thereafter. The Gaul cavalry was chased by their Roman counterpart, but by then the center was all for Hannibals veterans, expert for some skirmishing Velites.
We used an adaptation of a Napolenic home rule (see the Swedish 1809 "Brunswick" conversions).
We are waiting with impatience for the Hät Gauls, and hoping to see the logical announcements of Roman ally cavalry and the famous Numidian cavalry of Hannibal's brother , Hasdrubal.
