Hi,
I thought some modern themes of wargame figures would be a nice addition to this web page so I'm sending these along. I created a DBA Vietnam set of armies to use with a rule set based on the original De Bellis Antiquitas rules. I made the NVA army from the Esci - North Vietnamese Soldiers and Vietcong set, and the US Army from:
Esci - U.S. Elite Forces set. These have been reissued by various other figure makes over the years.
I used round wooden craft bases 1 1/2" wide for the troops with ground cover in various shades of color to make the different troop types easier to identify in the game. The US Forces also have Huey Helicopter (a toy model but pretty good looking its about 15mm scale) which is a fun addition to the wargaming arsenal. I can use the Huey to transport one base of soldiers behind enemy lines in the game and cause havoc. I don't recommend putting the US General in the helicopter because if he is shot down by VC Artillery the game is over quickly! The VC have 2 artillery bases and for these I used WWII German anti tank guns for Soviet/Chinese weapons and for the US Army the 105mm Howitzer for the fire base comes from an old ROCO issue. If you're interested in playing the rules are on line here: http://it.geocities.com/sr12091/debellisvietnam.htm
